PlayStation Plus is always a hot-button topic each month as gamers eagerly await next month’s reveal.
Often, though not always, the free lineup is revealed via a leak prior to the official announcement from Sony, which typically takes place on the final Wednesday of the month (though, again, not always).
Next month’s free PS Plus games—the first of the new year!—have now leaked online, and it’s a really solid offering and a great way to kick off the new year.
Three free PlayStation Plus games have leaked for January 2021.
The leak comes by way of Dealabs user billbil-kun who has accurately predicted the PlayStation Plus titles numerous times in the past. That means we can take this leak more seriously than many in the past, though we should still take it with a grain of salt. Even accurate leakers can get things wrong.
The leaked games are:
This is not just a strong lineup because of the titles on offer, but because two of them have PS5 versions available. Hopefully none of them are truncated versions like last month’s games.
DIRT 5 is a racing game with generally mixed reviews. It’s exactly the kind of solid-but-not-great third-party racing game you’d expect to see on PS Plus.
Deep Rock Galactic is the game I’m looking forward most to on this list. It’s a 1-4 player co-op sci-fi shooter where you play as badass Space Dwarves. I haven’t played it yet but it looks amazing. Can’t wait!
The only reason I’m not as excited for this one as Deep Rock Galactic, is because I’ve played Persona 5 Strikers and already own it. I love the Persona games but I’m not as fond of the Dynasty Warrior series. But this one blends the two masterfully, retaining the art-style and feel of Persona 5 while merging the combat of the two franchises near perfectly. It’s great!
So yeah, this lineup is basically too good to be true and we should absolutely not get our hopes up too high before next Wednesday. But the hype, as they say, is real.
Talk about starting 2022 off with a bang!
