Frederick W. “Fast Fred” Stegner, 81, of Steubenville died Tuesday January 11, 2022 at Trinity West ER. He was born July 20, 1940 in Charleston, WV. He is the son of the late Sylvia Fithen Brinkley. He is also proceeded in death by his wife Gloria Stegner; maternal grandparents Leroy and Ava Fithen.
Fred was retired from Weirton Steel where he worked in the BOP Department for many years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Fred also enjoyed being in the Buck Knives Collectors Club. Fred was a member of Triumph of the Cross Parish.
Surviving are one son Fred (Tonya) Stegner of Cisco, TX; three daughters: Natalie Stegner of Wheeling, WV, Dawn (Chris) Takach of Steubenville and Dyanna Stegner of Steubenville; three grandchildren Steven, Alyssa, Lexi and one great grandchild Evelyn; canine companions Roxie and Ralph. He also leaves behind his loving cousin JoAnn (Art) Vecchione.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 3-6 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Tom Nau will celebrate. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be held Wednesday at 5:45 pm.
