CHESTER — The City of Chester’s next municipal election has been scheduled for June 14.
The offices of mayor, city clerk and five members of city council will be on the ballot, with terms of office lasting four years.
In addition to the elected offices, Chester residents will be asked to consider a proposed change to the city charter, which would change the position of city clerk from an elected post to a career-level position, effective July 1, 2026, or when the position becomes vacant.
Candidate filings began Tuesday, and will be held through March 29.

Candidates must reside within the city limits of Chester and be at least 18 years of age and a qualified voter with at least six months of residency prior to the election. Candidates also must not be under the conviction of a felony.
In addition, candidates are required to be taxpayers with an assessment of at least $100 of real or personal property in the city.
Candidates for council must run in the ward in which he or she lives.
