Satisfaction with one’s job is the primary component of happiness. Worldwide, only about 20 percent of working people are happy with what they do, the percentage being higher, closer to 50 percent, for example, in the US, according to various polls. Those passionate about their occupation are the happiest and most successful. The lucky ones discover the right way early in their lives. Millions of others are eager to break away from the routine.
Thirty years ago, Max Zaharenkov was born in Riga, Latvia, to a native Russian family, and ten years later, his future was determined by a gift his parents gave him for his birthday. The video camera changed his vision of the world and shaped Max’s future. The boy became obsessed with shooting videos and gradually turned his passion into serious filmmaking and, later, into business.
Having begun with a school TV channel, the young cameraman got increasingly involved in various film projects after moving to London to study international marketing. Parallel with college, he started shooting comedy videos for Vine and saw his popularity in social media rise. After Vine had gone out of business, Max moved to Instagram and YouTube. His Instagram page, for instance, has close to one million followers thanks to the highly-enjoyable and ingenious content. In addition, after creating a TikTok account in 2018, Zaharenkov widened his creative horizons and audience still more. His video artwork has distinctive and unforgettable features that attract and captivate close to 340K followers with artistic visual effects. So what makes Zaharenkov’s artwork so popular?
While targeting Millennials and Gen Z, his primary audience, Zaharenkov, is well aware of the demographic’s penchant towards a more liberal work-life balance. This new job paradigm negates the boredom of the five-to-nine routine and instead opts for entrepreneurialism and self-realization. With his videos, Max wants to inspire young people to dream big and follow their passion. One way of doing that is to turn their ideas into online projects and monetize their social media presence.
“I see opportunity where nobody can see it; I can see the market and know how to adapt to new realities, and I have a very sharp sensitivity for trends and know how to adapt to these trends,” explains Zaharenkov.
Through his London-based award-winning digital marketing company ZAHARE Media, Zaharenkov works with many brands, including luxury and niche brands, celebrities, and several Fortune 500 companies, assisting them with producing and distributing high-quality content.
Being a team player and a strong believer in the power of teamwork, Zaharenkov treasures the people he works with. “Your team is the most important thing you have. With a good team, you can accomplish anything. Communicate effectively with them, motivate them, explain your goals to them, and they will help you reach them.” The other trait that pushes him forward is the ability and willingness to absorb new knowledge.“I’m always looking for people who are doing things better than me so that I can implement their methods,” shares Zaharenkov.
While possessing a rare filmmaking talent and the knack to help brands and businesses monetize their social media presence, Zaharenkov has more far-reaching plans. He is soon launching a travel and digital marketing podcast. A talent agency that is also in the works is a more remote project.
